This presentation will have a brief description of the Jungian origins of tarot and how it can be used as a therapeutic and somatic tool due to the power of metaphor and symbolism.

Learning Objectives

  • Attendees will be provided with a brief description of terms used in Jungian psychology with tarot and how that is relevant to therapy work.
  • Attendees will learn why tarot can be used as a therapy and somatic tool.
  • Attendees will learn two to three ways to use tarot in therapy work.
  • Attendees will be provided with example tarot decks that they can use in therapy work with clients.
Presenter

Michelle Jaquish, MSW, LICSW

Michelle is a queer, woman of color therapist that launched her private practice, Banshee Therapy Services 8 months ago during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to her therapy practice, she worked in homeless crisis services for five years holding both direct service and clinical supervisory roles. She graduated in 2016 from the UW School of Social Work with her Masters, where she also got the chance to learn her native language of Tagalog through a paid fellowship in the International Studies department. Prior to her social work career, she had served in schools and non-profits throughout Seattle as an AmeriCorps member, and has done activism work locally and globally with the Filipino community.
