Now that you have earned your MSW, what is your next step? Social Workers have many paths and options available.
WSSCSW is offering an online mentorship group to support new social workers in developing their professional identities as they navigate life as a MSW. These groups will give new professionals a forum facilitated by a seasoned social worker to explore what it means to enter this profession after graduate school. The groups are open to those who have earned their MSW within the last 5 years.
Group Environment Policy
This is not a therapy or supervision group. Mentorship groups strive to create a supportive and constructive environment that allows every group member to share their experience as social workers and work towards their professional goals. The facilitator will support the members as they navigate their own experiences within the group dynamics of this space. Group participants are expected to have done sufficient personal, emotional work in order to have the capacity to support their peers. Fit for this group will be determined through a phone screening prior to completion of the registration process.
About the Facilitator
Emily Fell, LICSW, works with teens and adults, focusing on gender, identity and self-esteem. Emily uses psychoanalytic, attachment and feminist frameworks to gain a deep understanding of people while considering power/privilege and the impact of systems on individuals. Emily’s background in community mental health, crisis management and inpatient psychiatry guide her current practice.
“My hope for the mentoring group is to facilitate a space where social workers can connect around both practical and complex issues in clinical practice. Each group meeting will include a mindfulness exercise and discussion of topics selected by group members. Topics might include clinician self-care and professional development, managing challenging client interactions, navigating organizational/structural dynamics in the workplace.”----Emily Fell, LICSW.
